Easy Slow Cooker Turkey Chili for Busy Families

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

My family loves turkey chili. I love easy turkey chili! Any time, any place, we are up for it. It is afterall the ultimate comfort food.

There are literally millions of chili recipes… I mean millions. So many versions, varities, and secrets. How can one dish be so different?

Don’t believe me? Attend a chili cookoff sometime and you will be convinced that this one simple dish can be so so different.

So what’s a girl to do? Keep it simple, mama.

Enter the mighty Slow Cooker!

It is a girls best friend… well atleast this girls.

When I think of the slow cooker, I instantly think of dump and go, and my heart skips a beat.

The simple the better.

I want as few ingredients as possible and be able to literally dump everything in and go on with the rest of my day.

I don’t have the time (or the desire) to pre cook then cook.

Why do so many recipes want to complicate our lives? Even ones that include the slow cooker?

I don’t want to pre cook anything. I just don’t. Please don’t make me… I’m begging you.

When it comes to chili so many recipes call for pre cooking the meat. Why?

Because most recipes call for using beef and there is a lot of fat that needs to be drained when using it. It must be drained.

So when we are using a lean ground turkey… guess what? Yes, friend, no need to drain the fat when there isn’t any!!

Woo hoo!

That’s why I love using ground turkey in my slow cooker. It makes my life so much easier.

This easy turkey chili recipe is mostly a dump and go.

There is the option to chop an onion, which I will be very honest with you, I extremely dislike.

So the onion is an option, however, it does add so much delicious flavor that even I end up chopping that onion because the end result is so good. It’s worth it.

Another win for this recipe? It’s a great low carb option for those looking to reduce the carbs and up the protein.

Check out this post about my favorite 10 low carb foods.

BIG FAMILY, BIG PORTIONS:

Have a big family? When you see a recipe that serves “4” you giggle or roll your eyes?

I’m there with you, sis!

Not only are we a family of 6, but 4 of them are guys!!

So when I cook… I COOK! I don’t cook for that night… I cook for that WEEK!

If you haven’t discovered the power of meal prepping or overcooking and freezing – let me help you out! It is a game changer for the busy families or for people that just want to cook once and have it provide for a long time.
